It was an honour when John Gibbons, the beloved former manager of the Blue Jays reached out to M2 Consulting to start creating some content. Gibbons, fondly referred to as “Gibby” by the flock of Jays fans served two stints as Toronto’s field boss (2004-2008 and 2013-2018). What endeared him to fans and the media that covered him was his authentic, tell it like it is style. It is that same style he will bring to his new media activities.

M2 Consulting’s plans for Gibby are ambitious and being deployed quickly. We launched him on social media on August 27th and within a week he was at 30,000 followers on twitter and growing. His pinned video announcing his debut on twitter and promoting his podcast was well over 300,000 views during that time. The reaction to Gibby has been full of love.

In true Gibby fashion, he is engaging with fans, answering their questions and opening up some of his personal life on Instagram, sharing family photos.

The media requests for Gibby immediately flooded in after his social media debut. Within a week he appeared on Sportsnet TV and Radio and TSN Radio, CBC Radio as well as numerous podcasts. All of his appearances full of laughs, love and great insights.

His podcast “The Gibby Show” debuted Monday, September 20th across all platforms (Apple, Spotify etc) and the vidcast will be available on YouTube. The Gibby Show instantly became the #1 Baseball Podcast in Canada. Gibbon’s co-host is John Arezzi, his long-time friend from A-Ball in the New York Mets organization. Arezzi went on to be a writer/broadcaster and now the two are re-united. The Gibby Show will follow the Jays and MLB happenings, and include a weekly guest in the “Gabbing with Gibby” segment. Gibbons will also answer selected fan questions.

Gibbons isn’t only taking the electronic media by storm. This coming spring (2023), Gibby’s book chronicling his life in baseball will be released by ecw press. It will include stories of his time with the 1986 World Champion Mets and of course his years in Toronto.

A full slate of activity for Gibby as he explodes back onto the baseball scene. It will be a fun ride. Companies interested in sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to reach out to M2 Consulting.
